The Ultimate Weather Instrument: Fischer Barograph
A barograph records atmospheric pressure history on a paper chart, offering a visual record of pressure changes over time. Unlike a traditional barometer, which shows present pressure, a barograph continuously tracks the pressure changes, making it ideal for long-term monitoring, particularly when you're unable to manually track it.
What does a barograph measure?
While a barometer displays the current pressure and its recent changes, a barograph records the historical pressure data on a paper chart wrapped around a clock-driven drum. For vessels or overnight anchoring, the barograph’s printed trace shows how pressure changed when there was no active watch.
