What does a barograph measure?
A barograph records the history of atmospheric pressure over time. Unlike a regular barometer, which shows present pressure, the barograph provides continuous pressure data on a paper chart wrapped around a clock-driven drum. Ideal for use on vessels or during overnight anchorages, the printed barograph trace allows you to track pressure changes when there's no active watch.
Measurement Range:
- Uses a set of 7 aneroid capsules (62 mm diameter) made from copper-beryllium alloy, which eliminates age-hardening and improves accuracy.
-
Temperature Compensation: Utilizes bi-metal components to compensate for temperature changes between -30°C to +40°C (-22°F to 104°F).
-
Altitude Range:
- 955 to 1055 hPa
- 930 to 1030 hPa
- 905 to 1005 hPa
- 880 to 980 hPa
- 855 to 955 hPa (up to 1,100 m above sea level)
